Be gentle with your soul
Not every mistake deserves all this inner punishment.
There are people who live their lives as though a merciless judge sat inside them.
They forgive everyone… except themselves.
They make allowances for other people’s mistakes…
yet they are pitiless with their own souls.
Every stumble turns into self-flagellation.
Every mistake becomes proof that they are not enough.
And after every moment of weakness they feel ashamed, as though they had done something unforgivable.
But here is the truth many people miss:
a person does not grow through self-hatred…
and does not heal through harshness.
How many times have you been exhausted…
and needed not a solution, but someone to pat your heart?
How many times have you fallen apart in silence…
then stood up and got on with your day as though nothing had happened?
And how many times did you need to be held…
but met yourself with blame instead of mercy?
Sometimes we carry ourselves beyond what we can bear.
We ask ourselves to be strong all the time.
Calm all the time.
Composed all the time.
And we forget that this is a soul… not a machine.
A person who does not know mercy towards themselves lives an inner war that never ends.
They seem fine in front of people…
while inside they are worn out from so much resistance.
Self-compassion does not mean weakness.
It does not mean making excuses, or giving up.
It means treating yourself with humanity while you are in pain.
It means saying to yourself:
I am going through a hard time… and that does not make me a failure.
I made a mistake… but I still deserve love and respect.
I am learning… and I do not have to be perfect all the time.
Sometimes the greatest form of healing…
is to stop punishing yourself for everything.
To let your heart rest a little.
To speak to yourself gently instead of harshly.
To understand that healing needs patience… not another war.
Tired hearts do not need more pressure.
They need safety, and mercy, and genuine holding.
Be gentle with your soul…
because you carry on your shoulders what nobody else can see.
And in spite of everything… you are still trying.
And that alone… deserves respect. 🤍
